Start to order a custom pet portrait, start by sending me an email. Your email should include photos of your pet and a brief description of what you’d like.
-
Consultation - you’ll receive a reply from me clarifying details such as which features you’d like highlighted, portrait size, background setting, cost and delivery options. I will also confirm a delivery date. There’s no obligation to proceed with an order at this stage.
-
Place order – once the details of your artwork have been agreed upon, a 50% deposit is required. Payment options are bank transfer or PayPal.
-
Artwork is created – your artwork will be completed within the agreed upon time frame and any delays will be communicated in advance. When finished, you’ll receive a photo for approval and, if required, final revisions made.
-
Payment & delivery - once you are happy with your artwork and the outstanding balance has been paid, your piece will be gift-wrapped, carefully packaged and sent for delivery.
What type of materials are used?
Oil paintings are created on artist’s board, prepared with two layers of gesso. Only professional-grade art materials are used.
What type of reference photos are best?
If you're taking photos of your pet, please ensure photos:
-
are in focus, clear and visible
-
are taken in natural light or near a window
-
have good contrast between highlights and shadows
-
are taken at your pet's eye level to better caption their proportions
-
send the highest resolution – this will help to view features clearly
-
if a pet has passed away, I will work with whatever images you have
What type of alterations can be made?
Changes can be made to backgrounds, such as custom colours or placing your pet in a different setting like a beach or field.
What about gift vouchers?
Digital and physical gift vouchers are available and include a professionally designed certificate with the selected value. Vouchers can be sent via email or post and can be used to cover part or all of the costs of a commission. Please get in touch to enquire about gift vouchers.
What if I don’t like the artwork?
Customer satisfaction is of the utmost importance to me. Providing a clear brief and high‑quality reference photos at the outset will help ensure a successful commission. Receiving a photo of your finished work gives you the opportunity to make final revisions to your piece. If you are not satisfied with the final artwork, the remaining balance will not be charged, however the deposit is non‑refundable.
